PARIS, Nov 30 (Reuters) - Sanofi-Aventis (SASY.PA) and Japanese drugmaker Astellas Pharma Inc. (4503.T) have agreed to restructure their joint venture activities in Japan, Fujisawa Sanofi-Aventis K.K. (FSA).

The operation, aimed at simplifying operational management, will be made in several steps and is expected to be substantially complete on Dec. 31, the statement said.

FSA is 51 percent owned by Sanofi-Aventis and 49 percent by Astellas. In the restructuring, Sanofi-Aventis K.K., the Japanese subsidiary of Sanofi-Aventis, will obtain certain rights to Myslee, the leading treatment of insomnia.

Myslee will continue to be co-promoted by Sanofi-Aventis K.K. and Astellas and distributed by Astellas. The other products, namely Primperan, Dogmatyl, and Gramalil will be solely marketed and distributed by Astellas. (Reporting by Dominique Vidalon, editing by Will Waterman)
