LONDON, July 3 (Reuters) - A UBS (UBSN.VX) Japanese equity fund was the top
performer among British-registered equities funds in June, data from Thomson
Reuters fund research firm Lipper showed on Friday.
The small and mid cap fund was top among a series of Japan-focused funds
which dominated the upper tier of equities funds last month, boosted by a 23
percent gain in the Nikkei .N225 during April-June -- the index's best
quarterly gain in 14 years.
A Templeton Thailand fund, managed by Mark Mobius, was the only non-Japanese
fund in the top five returning 10.89 percent in June.
Parvest came in at the botton of the table, returning minus 11.68 percent in
its Russia fund, while Societe Generale Asset Management's (SOGN.PA) gold mines
fund saw a 11.57 percent fall in June.
