BG Group up on talk of Exxon Mobil interest: traders

LONDON (Reuters) - Shares in BG Group (BG.L) rose as much as 5.1 percent on Thursday as traders cited market talk of bid interest from Exxon Mobil (XOM.N).

BG declined to comment.

"Heard that Exxon were sniffing," one trader said.

More than 6.5 million BG shares changed hands by 4:56 a.m. EDT, compared with a full-day average of 11.2 million shares in the past 30 days.

BG was up 3.9 percent, while the FTSE 100 .FTSE was up 0.2 percent.
