ETF Securities to launch currency ETCs

Wed Nov 4, 2009 7:16am EST

LONDON, Nov 4 (Reuters) - ETF Securities Ltd, an operator of commodity exchange-traded funds, said on Wednesday it was planning to launch a platform for currency exchange-traded commodities (ETCs) on the London Stock Exchange next week.

Currencies  |  Global Markets  |  France  |  Japan

Initially, 18 currency ETCs would be listed. The instruments would provide long or short passive exposure to G10 currencies versus the U.S. dollar and include the Australian dollar, British pound, Canadian dollar, euro, Japanese yen, New Zealand dollar, Norwegian crown, Swedish crown and Swiss franc.

Exchange-traded products issue securities backed by physical stocks of a commodity, giving investors exposure to the underlying asset prices.
