UPDATE 1- Zeltia seeks European OK for ovarian cancer drug

MADRID, Dec 4 (Reuters) - Spanish pharmaceutical company Zeltia (ZEL.MC) said on Thursday it has submitted an application to the European Medicines Agency to approve its Yondelis drug for the treatment of ovarian cancer.

Zeltia said the drug would be used in the treatment of tumours in conjunction with Doxil-Caelyx.

At 1200 GMT, Zeltia shares were up 3.5 percent at 3.8 euros, compared with a 1.2 percent rise on the IBEX-35 (.IBEX).

Last month, Zeltia's partner in the United States, Johnson & Johnson's unit Orth Biotech Partners, filed for approval of Yondelis for ovarian cancer with the US Food and Drug Administration. (Reporting by Judy MacInnes; Editing by Erica Billingham)
