EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT ELECTION CAMPAIGN

Romania enters the last 24 hours of electoral campaign before the June 7 European Parliament election.

ROMANIA SELLS 570.9 MLN LEI IN 5-YEAR TBONDS

Romania sold 571 million lei ($192 million) in five-year treasury bonds on Thursday, with the average accepted yield at 11.07 percent, from 11.39 percent at a previous May 7 tender, central bank data showed.

The finance ministry had initially planned to sell 750 million lei.

ROMANIAN NET WAGES UP 9.8 PCT Y/Y IN APRIL

Romanian average net wages rose by 9.8 percent on the year in nominal terms in April to 1,408 lei ($474), the first single-digit rise after many years of faster growth, the National Statistics Board said on Thursday.

Wages were up 0.4 percent on the month compared to March.

MORE H1N1

Two more H1N1 cases were confirmed on Thursday in Romania, the health ministry said, bringing the tally to eight infected people. The two got the new flu from the first two infected women that returned from New York in the past month.

PRIME MINISTER EXPECTS INTEREST RATES TO DROP

Romanian Prime Minister Emil Boc expects interest rates for the local leu currency and the euro to fall in the next 30 days, in reaction to the fiscal and monetary measures taken.

Economy Minister Adriean Videanu and European Energy Commissioner Andris Piebalgs will discuss Romania's energy strategy, soon to be released, at an informal meeting next week.
