AOSTA, Italy (Reuters) - Italian car maker Fiat SpA (FIA.MI) will decide by the end of the year on the entry of its Iveco truck unit into the North American market, Iveco Chief Executive Paolo Monferino said on Monday.

The most likely option that Fiat was weighing is building a plant in the United States or northern Mexico to produce its Daily vehicle, he told reporters.

"We are evaluating the situation and we will make a decision by the end of the year," Monferino said, speaking on the margins of the relaunch of Iveco's Campagnola four-by-four vehicle.

Iveco has been looking at ways to enter the United States, the last major market where it has yet to have a notable presence.
