BOVIS SALES LEAP, BUT ONLY FROM ROCK-BOTTOM BASE

Bovis Homes(BVS.L) has reported better than expected sales, with reservations for Bovis houses up 17 per cent on last year in the 17 weeks to 1st May, although this was partly because of exceptionally low sales last time. Sales so far this year are down 25 per cent from the same time in 2007, when house prices were continuing their inexorable rise. Bovis homes was one of the last big house builders to cut prices in 2008, in a year that saw it lose 78.7 million pounds and also 60 per cent of its UK staff.
