THE IRISH TIMES

- Fine Gael and Labour are to oppose the formation of a key element of the Government's plan to deal with the outcome of the Lisbon Treaty referendum defeat.

- The EU's top farm official has accused the Irish Farmers' Association (IFA) of acting in "bad faith" and "misleading" the public in its vocal campaign against a global trade deal.



IRISH INDEPENDENT

- Ryanair (RYA.I) is taking a high-stakes gamble to keep low air fares after Michael O'Leary's bet on fuel prices backfired spectacularly.

- Executives at Spanish utilities giant Endesa (ELE.MC), which confirmed over the weekend it is concluding the purchase of 450 million euros of assets from the ESB, said yesterday they have selected Ireland as "a priority market" for expansion.

- Business conditions have weakened in the past three months and are set to remain sluggish in the coming quarter, according to the IIB Bank/ICAI summer business sentiment survey.



IRISH EXAMINER

- Irish people are being exposed to 40 percent more radiation than the worldwide average, with cancer-causing radon the biggest concern.

- The Dublin-headquartered international paper and packaging giant, Smurfit Kappa Group (SKG.I) (SKG) has identified the Chinese market as a potential area for growth, but has denied it is closing in on any immediate return to the Far East.
