Ukraine ArcelorMittal Jan/Sep steel output down 10.5 pct

KIEV, Oct 9 (Reuters) - Ukraine's biggest steel mill, owned by ArcelorMittal (ISPA.AS) (MT.N) reduced steel output by 10.5 percent to 5.471 million tonnes in January-September 2008, local news agencies reported on Thursday.

Agencies said the mill had decreased rolled steel output by 12.4 percent to 4.663 million tonnes so far in 2008, while pig iron output fell by 9.3 percent to 4.935 million.

The company raised steel output to 8.103 million tonnes in 2007 from 7.6 million in 2006.

The company also said it increased rolled steel output to 7.119 million tonnes last year from 6.9 million in 2006. (Writing by Pavel Polityuk; editing by Peter Blackburn)
