Alcon names insider Kevin Buehler as new CEO
ZURICH, Jan 9 (Reuters) - Kevin Buehler will become chief executive and president of eye care company Alcon Inc (ACL.N) in April, replacing Cary Rayment, the company said on Friday.
The 51-year-old Buehler has been at Alcon for 24 years and is currently senior vice president, global markets and chief marketing officer of its Alcon Laboratories, Inc unit.
Swiss drugmaker Novartis AG (NOVN.VX) has agreed to buy a majority stake in Alcon from Nestle SA (NESN.VX) in a deal worth up to $39 billion.
Rayment, who has been president and CEO since 2004, will retire effective March 31, but will continue to serve as a director and non-executive chairman of the board. (Reporting by Sam Cage; Editing by Jon Loades-Carter)
