MOSCOW, Aug 10 (Reuters) - Russian warships arrived at Georgia's Black Sea coast on Sunday following three days of fighting in the breakaway Georgian region of South Osettia, Russian media reported.

News agencies gave different reports of the purpose of their mission.

Interfax quoted a source as saying the force would blockade the coast.

"The navy was ordered not to allow supplies of weapons and military hardware into Georgia by sea," the source said.

But RIA-Novosti news agency quoted a defence source as saying Russia had no plans to mount a blockade.

"A naval blockade means war with Georgia," the source told RIA. "We are not at war with Georgia."

The force included the missile cruiser Moscow, the warship Smetlivy and backup vessels, RIA said.

Russia has accused the West and ex-Soviet Ukraine of arming Georgia, whose troops have been fighting Russian soldiers in South Ossetia.

Officials were not available for comment.
