Putin: gas to resume flowing when monitors deployed
MOSCOW, Jan 10 (Reuters) - Russia will resume exports of gas to Europe via the territory of Ukraine as soon as experts arrive at gas compressor stations to start monitoring gas flows, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said on Saturday.
"As soon as the mechanism of control starts working, we will send the gas to the system. If we see that it is stolen again, we will again cut flows," he told reporters.
"Our actions do not aim to worsen but rather to improve the situation in Ukraine, to help Ukraine get rid of crooks and bribe-takers and make its economy more transparent," he added. (Reporting by Dmitry Zhdannikov; editing by Simon Shuster)
