- Cyprus police warn of a massive road presence this bank holiday weekend following a spate of serious accidents.

- Cyprus's defence ministry reported a leading psychiatrist who deals with army conscripts to the Medical Association for his anti-army stance.

SIMERINI

- Residents of Kato Pyrgos in the remote north-west of Cyprus are concerned that a change of heart may stall the opening of a checkpoint crossing.

- The government said that it is prepared to inject 35 million euros into ailing state charter airline only when a plan of its future prospects is submitted.

- Two Greek Cypriot students returned to Cyprus eight months after joining a protest march in Greece where they were studying.
