News Corp Europe chief Marty Pompadur steps down

LONDON, Nov 14 (Reuters) - The European head of Rupert Murdoch's News Corp NWSa.N, Marty Pompadur, is leaving the company after a decade spent building the company's broadcasting and outdoor advertising businesses in eastern Europe and Russia.

News Corp said the move was a continuation of a planned transition that began in May when it appointed Tom Mockridge chief executive of European television. James Murdoch oversees the group's operations in Europe and Asia.

Rupert Murdoch has expressed nervousness about investments in Russia and is in talks with France's JCDecaux (JCDX.PA) to combine some of their outdoor advertising businesses. News Corp's News Outdoor is particularly strong in Russia.

News Corp also plans to sell off assets in Bulgaria and is reviewing operations in Poland, which it has said have proved more difficult markets than expected.

The company said in a statement late on Thursday Pompadur would remain an external adviser to News Corp. (Reporting by Georgina Prodhan; Editing by David Holmes)
