Details such as frequency of flights and prices will be formulated in the coming month and its plans are conditional upon receiving regulatory approvals, El Al said.

"Within the framework of the company's vision for 2010 El Al has set a target of expanding and growing mainly on long-distance flights, while meeting the demands of the business and tourism sectors," El Al President Haim Romano said in a statement.

"South America in general and Brazil in particular fit well into this strategy," he said, adding that tourism to South America was on the rise.
