By 1151 GMT, the index was down 10.1 percent on the day at 1,149.2, dragged down by weakness in global markets, the financial sector and the oil price.

The rouble-denominated MICEX index fell 11.3 percent to 937.5 points -- its lowest since December 2005. (Reporting by Simon Shuster, editing by Toni Vorobyova)
