- Russian Railways has lost 50 billion roubles ($1.80 billion) in cargo traffic. Railroad monopoly believes traffic will fall by 17 percent in 2009. Russian government must compensate these losses, the daily says.

- 30 travel agents from Saint-Petersburg died in a bus crash near Israeli city of Eilat on Tuesday, the daily reports. Israeli authorities worry that this may cause lowering of tourists' interest towards Israel.

- Arrears of wages in Russia doubled in November, amounting to 7.76 billion roubles ($279 million), the daily reports.

- Industrial production in Russia in November fell by 8.7 percent compared to November 2007 and by 10.8 percent compared to October 2008. Food production is also falling, the daily says, citing that state statistics agency.

- Shareholders of Russian carrier Sibir asked Alexander Lebedev to stop negotiations with state on selling a 26 percent stake, the daily reports.

- Internal troops cuts, started in 2006, have been suspended, officially due to 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. Communists say officials fear mass riots caused by crisis.

- Russian Pension Fund may need 300 million roubles ($10.87 million) more from the 2009 budget, the daily reports. Major portion of these money will go pay out child benefits.
