LONDON, Aug 21 (Reuters) - Britain's FTSE 100 .FTSE index is seen opening
20 to 29 points lower on Thursday, according to financial bookmakers, having
closed up 51.4 points, or 1 percent, at 5,371.8 in the previous session.
"After yesterday's solid finish for the FTSE 100 it seems as if gains will
be difficult to sustain in the near term as rising oil prices look set to dent
confidence across the board, whilst resurgent fears as to the health of the
global economy have already ended up weighing on financial stocks in Asia," said
Matthew Buckland, a dealer at CMC said in a note.
UK July retail sales, due at 0830 GMT, will provide a further gauge of the
state of the British economy.
