The 27-year-old star failed to clear the final 82,000 pounds ($153,000) of a 417,000-pound ($780,000) tax bill despite an earlier adjournment giving her extra time to pay.

She had said she was due to earn 472,000 pounds, which would enable her to pay off the debt.

The case was adjourned again on Thursday for an hour at the request of her legal team in an 11th-hour attempt to come up with the money and the bankruptcy order was issued after it failed to arrive.

Katona found fame with all-girl group Atomic Kitten but left in 2001 after becoming pregnant.

She married Bryan McFadden from Irish boy band Westlife at a in 2002 but the couple, who have two children, split in 2004.

She and her present husband Mark Croft have a 17-month-old daughter, Heidi.

Katona was not in court on Thursday.
