Belgian king accepts resignation of PM Leterme
BRUSSELS, Dec 22 (Reuters) - Belgium's King Albert has accepted the government's offer to resign, a statement from the palace said on Monday.
"The King accepted the resignation of the government and asked it to stay on in a caretaker capacity," it said.
Prime Minister Yves Leterme tendered his government's resignation on Friday after a report by the Supreme Court found signs of political meddling to sway a court ruling on the future of Fortis bank (FOR.BR), a victim of the credit crunch.
