Ex-Siemens CEO von Pierer says unaware of fine
MUNICH, Oct 23 (Reuters) - Heinrich von Pierer, former chief executive of Germany's Siemens (SIEGn.DE), is unaware of a proposed fine by German prosecutors in connection with a massive corruption scandal at the company.
German daily Sueddeutsche Zeitung, citing no sources, on Friday reported that Munich prosecutors were planning to fine von Pierer upto 1 million euros ($1.50 million) for breaching his corporate supervision duties.
The prosecutors were not available for comment.
Engineering conglomerate Siemens is already seeking damages from von Pierer over charges it secured contracts by funnelling bribes through slush funds. [ID:nLN523375]
Von Pierer's lawyers said in a statement on Friday he had no knowledge of such an order by the Munich prosecutors and there was no reason to impose such a fine.
