RPT-CORRECTED-Standard Chartered appoints new S.Africa CEO
(Repeats with new Reuters story code; corrects in third paragraph to "the economic outlook" from "its outlook")
JOHANNESBURG, Nov 25 (Reuters) - UK based-lender Standard Chartered Plc (STAN.L) appointed Ebenezer Essoka as chief executive officer of its operations in South Africa, it said on Tuesday.
Cameroon-born Essoka, currently CEO of Standard Chartered's west African business, will succeed Chris Low with immediate effect, the Asia-focused bank said. It gave no reason for the change and did not say if Low was leaving the company.
Standard Chartered, which focuses mainly on emerging markets, has so far dodged the massive losses from the credit crisis suffered by many of its competitors. It said this week that although the bank was performing well, the economic outlook was unclear. (Reporting by Serena Chaudhry; Editing by David Holmes)
