Telkom Kenya names Mickael Ghossein as CEO
NAIROBI, June 26 (Reuters) - Telkom Kenya said on Friday it had picked industry veteran Mickael Ghossein as chief executive to succeed Dominic Saint-Jean at a time of anticipated strong expansion by the firm.
Controlled by France Telecom (FTE.PA) since Dec. 2007, the former state-owned landlines monopoly has transformed itself into an integrated telecommunications operator through the launch of GSM service Orange.
A Lebanese national, Ghossein joins the firm from Jordan Telecom Group, where he was CEO. His 23 years of experience in the telecoms business includes stints in France, Romania and Bahrain for France Telecom, the firm said in a statement.
He is expected to steer the firm through a period of growth in the data market following the construction of two fibre-optic cables that are expected to usher in an era of cheap broadband services.
Saint-Jean will take on the post of senior adviser to France Telecom in East Africa, the firm added.
