LONDON, Aug 28 (Reuters) - The following corporate finance-related stories involving U.S. and European companies were reported by media on Thursday:
* Lenders to Britain's real estate firm Foxtons, Bank of America and Mizuho, have appointed Close Brothers as advisers for an expected debt restructuring, the Daily Telegraph reported.
* Siemens (SIEGn.DE), Europe's biggest engineering group, has held talks with sovereign wealth funds from the Gulf, Russia and other regions in an attempt to expand its long-term investor base, the Financial Times reported.
* Struggling tabloid publisher American Media Inc has secured the backing of many of its creditors for a new bond offering to refinance $570 million in existing debt, the Wall Street Journal said.
* Citigroup (C.N) is planning to lay off as many as 200 people in its information technology department in Singapore, the Straits Times reported, citing sources in the bank. (Editing by Rory Channing)
