MILAN, Oct 13 (Reuters) - Fiat (FIA.MI) Chief Executive Sergio Marchionne said on Monday the company's European sales last month were better than in 2007.

He also said he did not see benefits to the potential merger between U.S. auto makers General Motors Corp. GM.N and Chrysler.

"I don't know what it will resolve, I don't see the benefits," he said.

Marchionne spoke to reporters at a two-day meeting of the World Federation of Exchanges.
