Voting began Thursday (February 1) on CMT.com; eight nominees in each category will be whittled to four by February 28.

This year introduces the new Wide Open country video of the year category, nominees for which include Jimmy Buffett's "Bama Breeze," Sheryl Crow and Sting's "Always on Your Side" and Willie Nelson's "You Don't Know Me." The honor is intended for "artists who stretch the boundaries of mainstream country music," according to CMT.
