March 1 (Reuters) - U.S. auto sales in February fell from a year earlier, according to sales data released on Thursday by the auto manufacturers.

The following are highlights from sales data released by the largest car makers in the U.S. market.

Overall industry:

* Total industry sales fell slightly to 1.25 million units from 1.26 million a year earlier. The seasonally adjusted annualized rate of sales (SAAR) was 16.62 million units in February.

General Motors Corp. GM.N:

* Car and light truck sales up 3.9 percent (306,190 units)

* Year-to-date sales down 8.3 percent

* Retail sales up 11 percent, fleet sales down 18 percent

* Market share 24.4 percent

* Key vehicles: Chevrolet Impala up 43.9 percent, Chevrolet Malibu down 20.2 percent, Chevrolet Silverado up 26.5 percent, Chevrolet Tahoe down 24.4 percent, GMC Sierra up 22.7 percent.

* Production: GM set its second-quarter production target at 1.175 million units, 5 percent lower than a year ago.

* Incentives: average $2,693 per vehicle, up 2 percent from a year earlier

Ford Motor Co. (F.N)

* Car and light truck sales down 13.9 percent year-over-year (197,444 units)

* Year-to-date sales down 18.2 percent

* Inventories at end month were 603,000 units, including fleet vehicles

* Retail sales down 8 percent, fleet sales down 30 percent

* Market share 15.7 percent

* Key vehicles: F-Series down 12.1 percent, Explorer down 26.1 percent, Expedition up 2.9 percent, Fusion up 46.1 percent

* Incentives: average $3,084 per vehicle, up 9 percent from a year earlier

Chrysler Group DCX.N

* Car and light truck sales down 8.3 percent year-over-year (174,506 units)

* Year-to-date sales down 6.3 percent

* Inventories at end month were 492,230 units, including fleet vehicles

* Market share 13.9 percent

* Key vehicles: Cars down 13 percent, trucks down 7 percent; Jeep Wrangler up 63 percent, Dodge Ram pickup truck down 4 percent

* Incentives: average $3,526 per vehicle, down 6 percent from a year earlier

Toyota Motor Corp. (7203.T)

* Car and light truck sales up 12.2 percent year-over-year (187,330 units)

* Year-to-date sales up 8.6 percent

* Market share 14.9 percent

* Key vehicles: Tundra down 8.5 percent, Camry up 17.5 percent, Prius up 86.8 percent, Corolla up 12.9 percent

* Incentives: average $1,041 per vehicle, down 22 percent from a year earlier

Honda Motor Co. (7267.T)

* Car and light truck sales up 3.2 percent year-over-year (110,026 units)

* Year-to-date sales up 9 percent

* Market share 8.8 percent

* Key vehicles: Accord up 20.1 percent, Civic down 18.9 percent, CR-V up 31 percent, Odyssey down 0.3 percent

* Incentives: average $1,059 per vehicle, up 216 percent from a year earlier.
