(Reuters) - U.S. auto sales fell 2.7 percent in October from a year earlier, adjusted for an extra selling day this year, according to data released on Thursday by auto manufacturers.

The following are highlights from sales data released by the largest carmakers in the U.S. market.

Overall industry

* Total light vehicle sales -- 1.23 million units, down 2.7 percent.

* October seasonally adjusted annualized rate of light vehicle sales (SAAR) -- 16.05 million units, down from 16.31 million a year earlier.

General Motors Corp GM.N

* Car and light truck sales down adj. 0.6 percent (307,408 units)

* Year-to-date sales down 5.7 percent

* Inventories at month-end: 950,000 units, down 125,000 units from year earlier

* Cars/trucks: Cars down 4.5 percent/light trucks up 1.7 percent

* Market share: 24.8 percent

* Key vehicles: Chevrolet Impala down 5.4 percent, Chevrolet Malibu down 41.9 percent, Chevrolet Silverado down 10.6 percent, Chevrolet Tahoe up 26.8 percent, GMC Sierra down 7.4 percent.

* Incentives: average $3,118 per vehicle, up from $2,575 a year earlier.

Toyota Motor Corp (7203.T)(TM.N)

* Car and light truck sales up adj. 0.5 percent year over year (197,592 units)

* Year-to-date sales up 3.5 percent

* Market share: 16 percent

* Cars/trucks: Cars down 1.2 percent/trucks up 2.8 percent

* Key vehicles: Tundra up 71 percent, Camry up 0.7 percent, Prius up 44.9 percent, Corolla down 4.8 percent

* Incentives: averaged $710 per vehicle, down from $713 a year earlier.

Ford Motor Co (F.N)

* Car and light truck sales down adj. 13.1 percent year over year (181,754 units)

* Year-to-date sales down 13.7 percent

* Inventories at month-end were 564,000 units, including 175,000 cars and 389,000 trucks

* Retail/fleet mix: Retail sales down 1 percent/fleet sales down 26 percent

* Cars/trucks: Cars down 26.1 percent/trucks up 0.9 percent

* Market share: 14.7 percent

* Key vehicles: F-Series down 7.5 percent, Explorer down 18.3 percent, Expedition down 30.7 percent, Fusion up 13.1 percent.

* Incentives: averaged $3,208 per vehicle, down from $3,322 a year earlier.

Chrysler LLC

* Car and light truck sales down adj. 12.4 percent year over year (159,799 units)

* Year-to-date sales down 3.9 percent

* Cars/trucks: Cars up 8.1 percent/trucks down 17.7 percent

* Market share: 11.8 percent

* Inventories at month-end were 469,426 units, or a 84-day supply

* Key vehicles: Jeep Wrangler up 8 percent, Dodge Ram pickup down 13 percent, Dodge Caliber down 29 percent.

* Incentives: average $3,171 per vehicle, down from $4,149 a year earlier.

Honda Motor Co (7267.T)(HMC.N)

* Car and light truck sales down adj. 0.2 percent year over year (114,799 units)

* Year-to-date sales up 2.5 percent

* Market share: 9.3 percent

* Cars/trucks: Cars up 9.8 percent/trucks down 11.1 percent

* Key vehicles: Accord up 25.8 percent, Civic up 7.3 percent, CR-V down 21 percent, Odyssey up 24.4 percent.

* Incentives: averaged $653 per vehicle, up from $458 a year earlier.

Nissan Motor Co Ltd (7201.T)

* Car and light truck sales up adj 8.8 percent year over year (84,947 units)

* Year-to-date sales up 5.1 percent

* Market share: 6.9 percent

* Cars/trucks: Cars up 24.7 percent/trucks up 1 percent

* Key vehicles: Versa up 11 percent, Altima up 41.9 percent, Sentra down 11.5 percent, Titan down 12.6 percent.

* Incentives: average $2,177 per vehicle, down from year $2,407 a year earlier.
