DETROIT (Reuters) - U.S. April auto sales fell 14 percent from a year earlier on an adjusted basis, according to data from auto manufacturers on Thursday. The following are highlights from the largest carmakers in the U.S. market.

Overall industry

* Total light vehicle sales -- 1.25 million units.

General Motors Corp (GM.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) (excluding Saab)

* Light vehicle sales down adjusted 22.6 percent (256,058 units), unadjusted sales down 16 percent

* Year-to-date sales down 12.2 percent

* Inventories at month-end: 824,000 units

* Cars/trucks: Car sales down adjusted 7.3 percent/light truck sales down 32.3 percent

* Market share: 20.5 percent  Continued...
