(Adds details)
BOGOTA, Jan 2 (Reuters) - Colombian inflation shot to 5.69 percent in 2007, far above both the country's target ceiling of 4.5 percent and the 4.48 percent consumer price rise registered in 2006, the government said on Wednesday.
Inflation in the Andean country was 0.49 percent in December versus 0.23 percent in December 2006, a statement from the National Statistics Department said.
The central bank says it expects inflation of 3.5 percent to 4.5 percent this year, unchanged from its 2007 goal.
Colombian gross domestic product expanded 6.74 percent in the third quarter versus the same period last year.
Colombia's economy has picked up momentum under President Alvaro Uribe, who won reelection in 2006 after cutting urban crime and spurring investment with his U.S.-backed crackdown on drug-running leftist rebels. (Reporting by Nelson Bocanegra; Editing by Gary Hill)
