Macy joins TNT's "Family"

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - TNT has given the green light to "Family Man," a one-hour drama pilot starring William H. Macy, who co-wrote the script.
Macy will play the unlikely criminal Todd Becker -- a respected father of three, upright citizen and advice-dispensing pillar of his community by day and the leader of a somewhat dysfunctional, bickering gang of burglars by night.
Macy and his writing partner Steven Schachter wrote the script, which has witty overtones, and Schachter is set to direct. The two will also serve as executive producers.
Macy and Schachter have a long history with TNT. The 2002 TNT movie "Door to Door," which was written by the duo, starred Macy and was directed by Schachter. It earned the pair Emmys for their script, Macy's performance and Schachter's directing. Macy also landed Emmy nominations for starring in and producing the 2005 TNT film "The Wool Cap."
If "Family" gets picked up for a series, Macy will join his "Door" co-star Kyra Sedgwick, who headlines TNT's red-hot cop drama "The Closer" on the network's schedule.
