Brazil can weather market turbulence-cenbank chief

SAO PAULO, Brazil, Aug 2 (Reuters) - Brazilian central bank President Henrique Meirelles said on Thursday the country's economy is in solid shape and can weather the turbulence that has been shaking global markets in recent weeks.

Bonds

Brazil's currency, the real (BRBY), and the benchmark Bovespa index .BVSP of the Sao Paulo stock exchange tumbled last week on concerns a U.S. credit crunch would cut investment flows to emerging markets.
