"Idol" finalist McPhee joins indie drama

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - "American Idol" finalist Katharine McPhee and "American Beauty" veteran Wes Bentley are starring in the indie psychological drama "The Storyteller."

Bentley plays a writer who goes on a downward spiral when his father dies. McPhee plays his assistant. Robert Angelo Masciantonio is directing. An August shoot is planned.

McPhee makes her studio acting debut in August with the Columbia Pictures comedy "The Bunny House" opposite Anna Faris. Bentley next shoots the Stephen King adaptation "Dolan's Cadillac."
