Brazil's Embraer selling six planes to Virgin Blue

SAO PAULO, April 2 (Reuters) - Brazilian aircraft maker Embraer said on Monday it received firm orders for six planes from Australia's Virgin Blue.

Embraer, short for Empresa Brasileira de Aeronautica (EMBR3.SA)(ERJ.N), will sell three 170s with 78 seats and three190s with 104 seats to the low-cost carrier. Deliveries of the 170s will start in the second half of this year.

Embraer shares were unchanged at 23.50 reais in early trading after the statement by the company, which is the world's fourth-largest commercial jet maker.

In November, Embraer received a different batch of 14 firm orders from Virgin Blue valued at about $730 million. At that time, it received six options for additional planes.

Its firm orders totaled $14.8 billion in December.
