BOSTON, Sept 2 (Reuters) - Apple Inc (AAPL.O) is planning an event on Sept. 9 in San Francisco with the theme "Let's Rock," fueling speculation that the maker of the Macintosh computers, iPod music players and iPhone cell phones will introduce new products.

No further details were immediately available.

The Cupertino, California-based company sent an email to reporters on Tuesday, inviting them to attend the event, amid mounting speculation on gadget review websites that it will announce an upgraded line of its iPods. (Reporting by Jim Finkle in Boston; Editing by Derek Caney)
