Three doctors get the call on "House"

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Dr. House might have found his new underlings.

Kal Penn, Olivia Wilde and Peter Jacobson will continue on Fox's hit medical series "House" as regulars, sources said. They were among several recurring actors on the show -- all playing candidates to work with Dr. House (Hugh Laurie) -- following the departure of his previous assistants, played by Jennifer Morrison, Jesse Spencer and Omar Epps.

Penn, Wilde and Jacobson's characters were early standouts in this week's episode, which introduced all of the applicants. The original plan was for two of the characters to stick around, with the actors playing them becoming regulars. But the producers ended up picking up three actors, sources said.

The script for the episode, which would reveal Dr. House's final selection, is being distributed this week.
