QUITO, April 3 (Reuters) - Ecuador's state oil company, Petroecuador, said on Thursday it is seeking to end a contract with Petrobras (PETR4.SA) in a dispute over the Brazilian company's main oil block in the country.

The contract termination process, which could lead to a state take over of the company's assets in the country, could take months or even years. The final ruling on the company's contract has to be decided by the country's oil minister.
