"Teenager" sets record for ABC Family

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - "7th Heaven" creator Brenda Hampton's new teen pregnancy drama "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" set a ratings record for ABC Family.

The drama, revolving around a good girl who gets knocked up by the school stud during her first sexual encounter, was seen by 2.8 million viewers Tuesday, making it the most-watched series premiere ever for the cable channel.

"Teenager" was also the highest-rated premiere among several key demos, including adults 18 to 49, and conquered its time slot. The debut ranked as the network's top series telecast ever in several demographics, though it trails the first season finale of "Kyle XY" in total viewers.
