FACTBOX-Cargill operations in Venezuela

March 4 - Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez on Wednesday seized control of a rice mill owned by Minnesota-based agribusiness giant Cargill Inc, one of the world's largest privately held companies with 160,000 employees in 67 countries.

Following is a snapshot of Cargill Venezuela:

-- Cargill opened for business in Venezuela in 1986 by purchasing the assets of Agroindustrial MiMesa (a pasta and flour business) in Maracaibo.

-- Cargill now has approximately 2,000 employees in 22 locations across Venezuela in the following businesses: oilseed processing, grain and oilseeds trading, animal feed, salt, and financial and risk management.

-- Cargill has 13 manufacturing plants around the country along with 7 commercial branch offices and 2 Caracas offices.

-- Cargill's branded products in Venezuela include edible oils, pasta, flour, rice, cookies, fruit juice, pet foods, and livestock and poultry feeds.
