DTE says considering sale of Barnett Shale assets

NEW YORK, Sept 4 (Reuters) - Utility holding company DTE Energy Co. (DTE.N) is considering the sale of part of its Barnett Shale properties, Chief Financial Officer David Meador said on Tuesday.

That sale could be completed by the end of the year or delayed until 2008, Meador told Reuters.

The assets up for sale are in the core and southern parts of the Barnett Shale -- natural gas fields in northern Texas -- and total about 43,000 acres. The company has hired JP Morgan to handle the sale. (Reporting by Lisa Lee)
