NEW YORK, Sept 5 (Reuters) - Power company PPL Corp (PPL.N) is looking at acquisitions and exploring options to build new power plants, Chief Financial Officer Paul Farr said on Wednesday.

Mergers & Acquisitions

The company is looking at several assets that have come to market in PJM, the biggest electric grid in the East, Farr told Reuters. PPL would be interested in buying a company, a portfolio of assets, or individual power plants.

"M&A is a path to growth," Farr said. He added, "We don't need to achieve a deal to achieve scale."

PPL is also evaluating sites to develop combined cycle gas-fired plants and is exploring the option of building a traditional coal-fired plant at its Montour generating facility in Pennsylvania. (Reporting by Lisa Lee)
