Canada, some G7 nations want flexible yuan -Canada

OTTAWA, Feb 6 (Reuters) - Canada and a number of Group of Seven nations believe the yuan should be more flexible, Canadian Finance Minister Jim Flaherty said on Tuesday.

"There should be flexibility in the currency, and I am sure there will be a discussion about that on Friday (at the G7 meeting)," he said. "This is a continuing discussion where a number of countries in the G7 feel that there should be more flexibility with the currency. And China agrees there should be more flexibility but is much more gradualist in its approach."

The Canadian finance minister declined to comment on the value of the yen but said he looked forward to discussions on the issue at the meeting of G7 finance ministers and central bankers in Essen, Germany.
