BETHESDA, Maryland (Reuters) - American Anthony Kim moved into position for his second victory of the season by surging to a two-stroke lead midway through the final round of the AT&T National at Congressional Country Club on Sunday.

The 23-year-old Kim sizzled to four under par through 11 holes on the challenging 7,255-yard, par-70 course outside Washington, D.C., one stroke ahead of compatriots Hunter Mahan and Tommy Armour III.

Kim birdied the 402-yard par-four first hole and then birdied seven, nine and 10 to assume command of the tournament at 11 under par.

Mahan bogeyed two but then birdied five of the next seven holes to move into contention at four under for the day, while Armour was at one under through nine.

There was a six-way logjam for fourth, with Americans Jim Furyk, Dean Wilson, Jeff Overton, Steve Stricker, overnight leader Tom Pernice, Jr., and Australian Nick O'Hern all tied at eight-under for the tournament.

U.S. Open runner-up Rocco Mediate was at five under for the day and in a four-way tie for 10th at seven under par.
