LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - In a textbook example of synergy in action at Warner Bros., the "Speed Racer" video game will come out May 9, the same date that the film is released in the U.S.

The "Speed" game is being developed for Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment by New Zealand-based Sidhe Interactive and will first be released for the Nintendo Wii and portable DS system. A third configuration, for the Sony PlayStation 2, will be timed to reach shelves with the DVD release of the Warner Bros. Pictures film.

"Speed" producers Larry and Andy Wachowski are no strangers to games, having worked with developers on several successful games based on their "Matrix" movies.

Based on the popular animated series, the live-action film version of "Speed" stars Emile Hirsch and is being filmed at Studio Babelsberg near Berlin.
