NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) - NBC Universal said Wednesday that it will revamp its operations in Manhattan by 2009, keeping several units at 30 Rockefeller Center but moving the rest to a new facility.

NBC, which is the largest tenant at 30 Rock, said it won't be leaving the famous skyscraper. That address will continue to be the home of NBC Sports, NBC News and two NBC Entertainment programs, "Late Night With Conan O'Brien" and "Saturday Night Live." But the company said it had outgrown the existing space for its other operations.

NBC Universal also plans to spend millions of dollars on a new production center for New York station WNBC-TV, which will include a 24-hour digital all-news channel that will launch next year. That construction, on the sixth and seventh floor of 30 Rock, where WNBC is now, will be finished in early 2009.

It's likely that the parent network will give up significant space at 30 Rock, not to mention its offices on Madison Avenue, Park Avenue and in the Chelsea Market. The new facility, which will be either a new building or an existing one remodeled, will house 2,000 to 3,000 employees and will be environmentally sound. It will contain a conference center, fitness center, commissary and childcare and health centers. Still to be worked out is whether NBC Universal CEO Jeff Zucker's office will be in the new building or at 30 Rock.
