Mexico to tender telecom spectrum in early 2009

MEXICO CITY, Oct 9 (Reuters) - Mexico expects to tender spectrum for cellphones, WiMax and mobile Internet in the first quarter of next year, a senior government official said on Thursday.

"We're far along on this issue," Deputy Communication and Transport Minister Purificacion Carpinteyro told Reuters in an interview. "At the beginning of next year we should be beginning the spectrum tenders." (Reporting by Tomas Bravo; Editing by James Dalgleish)
