Freddie and Fannie shares open lower on capital fears

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Shares of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae posted sharp losses at the market open on Thursday on persistent fears that the two providers of home financing may need a substantial injection of capital.

Shares of Freddie and Fannie fell as much as 16 percent on the New York Stock Exchange.
