UPDATE 1-American Airlines to buy more Boeing 737s

SEATTLE, June 11 (Reuters) - AMR Corp's (AMR.N) American Airlines said on Thursday it exercised rights to buy a further eight of Boeing Co's (BA.N) 737 jetliners on Thursday, worth about $600 million at list prices.

The airline, one of the world's biggest operators of Boeing's single-aisle jet, now expects to take delivery of 31 737s this year and 45 in 2010. It has purchase commitments on a further eight 737s for 2011. (Reporting by Bill Rigby)
