The 42-year-old, making his debut in the opening major of the season, was 16-over for the tournament when he withdrew after nine holes.

"I would have liked to finish the two rounds but I'm hurt," Prayad told reporters after reaching the turn in six-over 42 at Augusta National Golf Club.

Prayad, one of three Asian players to receive a special invitation to compete at this year's Masters, battled to a 10-over 82 in Thursday's opening round.

"Right now, I need to get home and see a doctor to fix this problem. I'm doubtful about playing in the China Open next week and will probably have to withdraw from it."

The third Thai to compete at Augusta National, Prayad is a six times winner on the Asian Tour.
